What's the weather like? Due to its geographical positioning and the mountain range that surrounds it, Marbella enjoys a unique micro climate. The temperature is mild throughout the year - there are neither harsh winters nor suffocating summers.
The Spanish Costa del Sol has long been known to have the best climate in Europe with 320 days of sun per year and temperatures ranging from 16 to 30 degrees Celsius (61 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit) all year.
Sierra de las Nieves, the mountain chain surrounding the Marbella area, is the reason for the good weather, a unique micro climate since the rain and cold winds from the Atlantic Ocean is pushed further up the coast to the Costa Blanca area.
The average temperature is 19º C (66 ºF) and the sun shines for 320 days a year with fewer than 50 days of rain. First rains are late September or early October, can be heavy rarely last more than a day or two. This rain benefits the varied and luscious vegetation. Daily highs about 20º C (68º F) and nightly lows rarely much below 10º C (50º F). Pullover in the day, jacket in the evening.
Sunbathing almost every day from June to September. Virtually no rain. Daily highs about 35º C (95º F) and nightly lows 15º C (59º F). Shirt sleeve weather all the time evenings included.

Opening hours for shopping Trading hours are usually between 10.00 – 2.00 and 5.00 and 7.00 so be warned there may be a period in the middle of the day when you are unable to go shopping as freely as you may like.
Banks There are around 50 foreign banks in this country and these are well represented in Andalucia. Although there are fewer - with an overall smaller market share - than in most other European countries. These banks are full members of the Spanish clearing and payment system and can provide normal cheque accounts, cash and credit cards, and direct debit/standing order services.
Banks located in the major tourist regions generally have at least one English speaking member of staff.
Opening hours: Normal Bank opening hours in Spain are from 8.30 am or 9.00 am until between 13.30 and 14.30, Monday to Friday and from 8.30 and 9.30 until 12.00 or 13.00 on Saturdays in winter (banks are closed on Saturdays from June to September or October). When using a credit card always carry I.D. such drivers licence with a photograph or passport as most places will not accept your cards without proof of I.D. |
